EDITORIAL ASSISTANT - Home Based

Permanent Full-time (37 hours per week) Home Based (Head Office, Bury, Lancashire; Editorial Office Headington, Oxford) £29,334 per annum 30 days annual leave per annum, plus bank holidays and flexi-time 5% Salary Sacrifice Pension Corporate Health Cash Plan

The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) is a membership organisation with 12,500 members, mainly CBT practitioners and researchers. An SME, we have 23 members of staff operating out of the Bury Head Office with another 230 dedicated volunteers across the UK and Ireland. BABCP offers members CPD events and conferences, a magazine and journals, practitioner and course accreditations, and other services.

The postholder will be responsible for the management of peer-review systems for the BABCP journals Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BCP) and the Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (tCBT). This will include the administrative maintenance and development of the ScholarOne platform to ensure the smooth running of the journals, ensuring that services to editors and contributors are effective and adapt to changing circumstance.

The postholder will use their excellent organisational skills to efficiently support the editorial teams, contributors and publishers throughout the peer-review process. Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief and Company Secretary, the Editorial Assistant will need to largely manage their own workload autonomously and be responsive to the changing demands of the journals. This position works remote from Head Office and it is the responsibility of the postholder to ensure access to a suitable working environment.

A knowledge of peer-review systems, psychological research methods and scientific reporting standards would be valuable. The Editorial Statements for each journal can be found in the links below:
