Sales & Marketing Analyst (Maternity Cover), Bloomsbury Digital Resources

The opportunity

A great opportunity for a strongly motivated candidate to assume responsibility for the collection, analysis and reporting of sales related data with the aim to boost overall sales of our Digital Resources Division and the productivity of the sales team. 

The BDR division is part of the Non-Consumer Division and is developing new digital content services to expand Bloomsbury’s portfolio. The Division has launched Arcadian Library Online, Bloomsbury Collections, the award-winning Bloomsbury Fashion Central (Berg Fashion Library, the Fashion Photography Archive, Fairchild Books Library), Churchill Archive, Drama Online, Bloomsbury Popular Music, Bloomsbury Food Library, Bloomsbury Design Library, Bloomsbury Cultural History, Screen Studies, and Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Philosophers, Bloomsbury Architecture Library, and Bloomsbury Fashion Business Cases, with more to come. 

The Role

  • Collect sales data and evaluate performance based on sales quotas
  • Develop and track key performance indictors critical to enhancing the understanding of the business and improve decision-making
  • Usage reporting and analysis that tracks all subscriber usage by product on a quarterly basis, actively identifies “at risk” accounts and distributes information to marketing
  • Gap analysis by product that identifies target institutions and ensures relevant subject codes are updated in SalesForce.com
  • Conduct metric-based market research, in coordination with Editorial and Marketing departments
  • Create both standardized & custom reports, conduct quantitative product & sales analysis, provide support for marketing promotions, and assess future needs and data integrity
  • Report and track the growth of global customer base by type and region, tracking success against predetermined benchmarks
  • Creation of custom presentations for existing customers to provide a framework for sales discussion and demonstrate need for additional products/modules
  • Account profiling: maintain up to date information on accounts at the individual and aggregate level that provides insight into current sales patterns
  • Renewal reporting and analysis
  • Content marketing analysis: benchmarking, development of metrics, and analysis of metrics
  • Develop standardized tools, methodologies and business processes aimed at improving operational efficiency
  • Assist management in developing and reviewing sales budget and sales forecast including sales to budget variance analysis
  • Guide sales team in entering accurate opportunities forecasts in Salesforce and generate reports showing variance against SF opportunities
  • Communicate results to key internal stakeholders, providing in-depth analysis and recommendations
  • Analyse Salesforce data
  • Review P&Ls and model out revenue based on sales models of products in pipeline

Skills and experience

Essential

  • BA or equivalent degree
  • 2-4 years of related experience
  • Strong data manipulation, reporting and analysis skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, responding swiftly to different demands from the business and prioritizing work load
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • High standard of work with attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to understand and improve processes
  • Self-starter, organised and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Team player

Desirable

  • Salesforce experience
  • An interest in the development of digital technologies for the publishing industry
