Experienced Commissioning Editor, Business Books

Nicholas Brealey Publishing, which was acquired by Hachette UK in June 2015, is looking for a dynamic and experienced commissioning editor to grow its internationally renowned business list.

We publish right across the business market including personal development and popular psychology, but with a particular strength at the professional end of the market, focusing on coaching, global business, leadership, marketing, careers and organizational development. Distinctive and international in outlook, our list is ideal for professionals who want to stay at the cutting edge of their discipline or who are developing their knowledge and practice to the highest level through executive education.

Our list boasts a number of category-killing titles including: Coaching for Performance and Co-active Coaching; When Cultures Collide by Richard Lewis; Making the Matrix Work by Kevan Hall; Martin Seligman's positive psychology titles; Richard Koch’s 80/20 Principle; Sue Knight’s NLP at Work; and Gifts Differing  the source book behind the Myers-Briggs test.

NB Books now sits as in imprint within John Murray Press – Hachette’s specialist non-fiction division – where it benefits from working with a dedicated Sales, Marketing and Publicity team. We also publish a number of acclaimed Travel, Adventure and Cross Culture studies titles, and boast a small Boston-based US office which is acquiring and publishing into the US market.

The ideal candidate is desired to have at least 5 years of relevant commissioning experience, a good list of contacts, a strong understanding of the market, and a broad international outlook.

The role offers a rare chance to shape a well-established and profitable Business list for a new generation, within a creative and supportive environment.

In return, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

Please apply in writing with a full CV, covering letter and salary details to: recruitment@hachette.co.uk

Alternatively, hard copies can be sent to: HR Department, Hachette UK, Carmelite House, 50 Victoria Embankment, London, EC4Y 0DZ

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are only able to contact shortlisted candidates.

Hachette UK is an equal opportunities employer and employs people on the basis of their abilities.
