Head of Marketing, EMEA

We have a great opportunity for a Head of Marketing, EMEA to join our Marketing team based in our London office. This role is offered as a 13 month maternity cover (fixed term role) reporting to the Chief Editorial, Brand & Community Officer.

Responsibilities of the role

The Head of Marketing, EMEA is accountable for developing and implementing highly effective short and long-term brand and trade marketing propositions in line with best practice and the broader company marketing and strategic plans.  In addition, this role is responsible for leading the EMEA marketing team and ensuring that Lonely Planet successfully implements sophisticated trade and campaign marketing initiatives to grow revenues and enable Lonely Planet EMEA to continue brand and sales growth.

What we’re looking for 

  • Broad, classic marketing skills; proven success in building consumer-based brands by managing the marketing mix to optimal effect. Experience in the application of market research, advertising, promotions
  • Demonstrable experience in working in a publishing environment, including strong pedigree in working to deliver new and established products to market via campaigns
  • Commercial focus, including working with stakeholders across the business to ensure campaigns appeal to commercial partners
  • Proven ability to juggle and prioritise across varied regions and multiple channels of distribution; the ability to translate marketing strategies and principles across retail, e-commerce and broadcast channels
  • Problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to turn findings into executable marketing plans, linking the strategy to financial constraints
  • A great gut and intuitive sense of Lonely Planet and its culture including an enthusiasm and appreciation for the potential of Lonely Planet
  • An ability to empathize with both consumers and trade customers and intuitively understand the application of a well-developed brand identity
  • Strong management skills and some leadership skills; ability to inspire creative professionals; an enthusiastic, charismatic, motivating style; the ability to drive regional success while working within a broader global team
