Regional Sales Manager - South West

Our client, a leading publisher and information provider, requires a Regional Sales Manager for South West England & Wales. Ideally residing in the South West, the candidate will come from a consultative sales background with preferable experience of selling educational or technology-based products / services.  The role will involve selling digital products as well as managed services to information professionals, researchers and procurement specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-person meetings at client sites, primarily Universities and Government offices
  • Work to achieve sales growth from upgrades and new business sales
  • Manage and retain a portfolio of customers with a multi-million pound spend annually
  • Build and maintain a high standard of rapport with potential & existing customers
  • Through effective questioning, gain an understanding of the client’s workflow and articulate how we can bring value to their supply chain
  • Work alongside Account Executive / Field Sales Representative to maximise sales opportunities
  • Work closely with product specialists, implementation specialists and customer service colleagues
  • Attend local / national conferences or exhibitions and make presentations to large audiences
  • Populate, update and manage a CRM system to achieve sales targets and objectives
  • Prepare written proposals and quotations for customers
  • Produce sales reports as required for business planning
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales to develop an effective sales strategy / plan

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong field sales background
  • Experience of selling in the HE or public sector
  • Ability to deliver professional and confident presentations to large groups
  • Effective communicator both verbal and in writing
  • Familiarity with formal procurement procedures and capacity to deliver professional bids / proposals
  • Comfortable working autonomously from home office
  • Strong focus on attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with medium to long-term sales cycles
  • Can demonstrate personal values of integrity, respect, professionalism, creativity and initiative
