Contracts Manager (Digital Rights Clearance and Licensing)

 

The Penguin Random House Contracts department within Penguin Random House is seeking a well-organised and proactive individual to join as a Contracts Manager (Digital Rights Clearance and Licensing) on an initial 6 month contract.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing  (with support from line manager) the eBook rights clearance programme across Penguin Random House and will additionally provide support to the Head of Contracts (Digital and Special Projects) with certain merchandising, licensing and theatre contracts.

 

This role is an initial 6 months Fixed Term Contract.

 

Your day to day work will look something like this:

 

  • Check head contracts for existing electronic rights information and update Biblio & other excel records to ensure most accurate rights information is available to the company.
  • Compile and maintain Excel reports of eBook terms to be agreed for each PRH publishing division.
  • Draft eBook addenda and agreements to clear backlist (and occasionally front list) titles across PRH and negotiate terms with agents/ authors as necessary
  • Liaise regularly with digital representatives and editors within each Editorial division to keep track of priority titles and their clearance progress.
  • Keep accurate records of all eBook rights clearance activity and complete necessary administrative tasks to ensure all records are up to date.
  • Be a point of contact in Group Contracts team for queries from departments around the company on any eBook related query. 
  • Draft and/or check agreements for the acquisition of merchandising rights
  • Check venue agreements for any Penguin Live Events
  • Draft and/or check merchandise licence agreements
  • Keep records up to date and liaise regularly with the Head of PRHE and Director of Events.
  • Additionally and as required, provide administrative support to the Senior Contracts Manager (Licensing) setting up contract records, updating internal systems and handling queries related to licensed property agreements (this part of the role will be based at the Strand offices).

 

This role will suit someone who can work autonomously using initiative and has strong organisational and time management skills. Having the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people in the business is important, as well as being able to multi-task and prioritise tasks effectively.
