Editorial Director

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Jonathan Cape team in the senior role of Editorial Director.

Jonathan Cape has one of the finest literary heritages of any publisher in the UK and reputation for publishing the very best literary fiction and prize-winning non-fiction as well as some of the most commercially successful books of the last twenty years. Our authors include Philip Roth, Thomas Pynchon, Rachel Cusk, Ian McEwan, Julian Barnes, Jung Chang, Mark Haddon, Evie Wyld, Audrey Niffenegger, Helen Macdonald and Helen Fielding and we are looking for an editor with a very clear eye and exceptional taste to bring more world-class authors of the same calibre and commercial clout to the Cape list.

This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced commissioning editor with good UK and international contacts and an enthusiasm for the breadth of the list to work at a senior level within the editorial team, reporting to Publishing Director Michal Shavit. The role requires meticulous attention to detail at the highest editorial standard, excellent presentation and negotiation skills and an ability to work on multiple projects under pressure.

Jonathan Cape is part of the VINTAGE division of Penguin Random House.

If this role sounds like your perfect opportunity please apply with a CV and covering letter by 17th May 2016.
