Creative & SEO Copywriter, Penguin General
What words make you consider buying a book?
Penguin General is looking for a copywriter who understands how people search online today, the words people use to discover books (written or spoken) and what persuades them to click and convert to purchase.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a flair for writing commercial copy to take on a new role within our division and to work with marketing, editorial and our metadata teams to develop a new approach that will maximize our visibility and sales online.
You will be responsible for ensuring our books are easy to find online and that our copy reflects the conversations people are having around them.
This will include establishing book copy and keywords for new books that feed out to online platforms and marketplaces; checking that metadata is correct; monitoring what people are saying about our books; and using that data to adjust and improve our copy and keywords. You’ll also update the SEO of older books, and work with marketing on writing copy and promotional material for campaigns.
The role will suit someone with experience writing persuasive, fresh copy and who is comfortable in adapting the tone of voice for different audiences and platforms. You will be methodical as well as curious and be willing to try different approaches to discover what works best. You must be a fast learner who is collaborative and able to use your initiative. You will be commercially minded and able to spot and seize opportunities.
Previous agency, SEO, metadata, or online copywriting experience would be invaluable.
If this sounds like you, please apply with a CV and cover letter by 20th November.
