Simon & Schuster UK publishes a wide mix of literary and commercial fiction, digital originals and audio books, and is one of the UK’s fastest growing lists. We publish Pulitzer Prize winners, Booker nominees, Richard & Judy Book Club selections, book industry award-winners and Sunday Times bestsellers.

Job Profile:

We seek a highly creative, commercially minded and ambitious person to join our enormously successful fiction team.

The Role:

Reporting to the Publishing Director, this role will be responsible for commissioning and developing individual titles as well as working on established brand authors.

We want to focus on three key growth areas: to continue to build our strong commercial brands, to search out and nurture exciting new talent and to grow our market share through acquisition in both the UK and international arenas.

The Candidate Profile:  

You will be central to the growth of the Division.  Your creativity, commercial instincts and skills to produce bestsellers will mean that you are already a recognised presence within trade publishing.

With an in-depth understanding of the market, you will be flexible and have fantastic editorial and project management skills needed for such a diverse list. The ideal candidate will have a track record of strong market awareness across a range of commercial fiction, from crime and thrillers to reading group fiction and historical fiction.  

Equally you will have strategic vision, sound business understanding and creative flair. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, a meticulous eye for detail and an ability to interact at all levels, internally and externally.  A can-do positive attitude along with the ability to multi-task is essential.
