Job Profile: We have an exciting vacancy for a Head of Special Sales to join our fast-paced and dynamic team. You will be responsible for our overall adult UK special sales function.

Your Role:  You will manage and grow sales of our fiction, non-fiction, client and distributed lists into a wide range of the UK’s special sales non-trade retailers and wholesalers, including audio, MBS, religious, gift, museums and galleries, as well as subscription boxes, non-book shop events and fulfilment houses. You will use market knowledge to formulate specific customer strategies, including the creation of custom product where applicable. You will manage and meet special sales budgets and manage sales of remainders and overstocks.

The Candidate’s Profile: We are looking for an energetic and target driven individual with a passion for books and commercial awareness of the market. You will have an eye for detail particularly with with regard to complex costing and delivery processes, and a proven understanding of sales and negotiation techniques and process. You will be financially literate and analytic, focused as much on the bottom line as on pure sales growth. Your ability to grow and build customer relationships should be second to none and you should have strong interpersonal and presentation skills.  You should always be willing to take on new challenges, be flexible and determined to succeed. You will have a prowess for multi-tasking and innovative thinking and be able to work on your own and as part of a team. You will have creative flair and be able to manage bespoke product from concept to delivery
