We trade globally, currently with stores across London, Hong Kong, Paris and New York, along with fast growing eCommerce and wholesale channels. During this exciting period of expansion and growing global reach, we are looking to recruit motivated, talented individuals, with initiative and passion for the brand, to join our diverse and energetic workforce.

The Editor is a key role within our in-house team, researching and reviewing all editorial copy used in all Smythson books and diaries.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Create and update the annual editorial and proofreading schedule for all diaries (including full-year and mid-year diaries)
  • Review, research, update and check all information contained in the diaries
  • Mark up diary interiors with updates
  • Double-check all editorial content to ensure absolute accuracy and consistency of diary information, presentation and layout with the Design Team
  • Coordinate and manage the liaison between external editors, proof-reader’s and printers to ensure all editorial is checked and proofread to the critical path and to the budget
  • Flag up areas of concern and anomalies to the Creative Director and Graphic Designer
  • Proactively make recommendations for new information for inclusion in diaries

Key Skills Required:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience in editorial, checking multiple sources including reference books, web sites and professional organisations to establish accurate addresses, telephone numbers, dates and other information
  • Excellent proof reading ability
  • Excellent project management

This is a very autonomous role, so the successful candidate will need to be happy working independently.
