CHILDREN’S BOOK EDITOR, LONDON

Weldon Owen Children’s Books is based in Soho in the heart of London. Its small, passionate team is creating a new list of illustrated books for children of all ages. The list is mainly non-fiction, covering all topics imaginable - from animals and art to the environment, empowerment, science, history, mindfulness and craft. Our endeavour is to look at subjects in a new way whilst making learning accessible, fun, creative and stimulating. We are also very enthusiastic about illustration and design, quirkiness and narrative.

We need an experienced editor to project manage a list of children’s titles. Working closely with the Publisher, you will be involved in all aspects of book creation, from the early stages of commissioning through to hand-over to production. This will include writing, editing and researching, managing budgets and schedules, compiling sales copy and data, and guiding external packaging teams, writers and editors. You will also work very closely with the design and production team.

You must have superb editing skills, with a meticulous eye for detail, and a flourish for enticing, age-appropriate copy. You need solid book-management experience in illustrated book publishing, including budget management and InDesign skills. It is also important that you are a highly organised self-starter, who is unflappable under pressure, and a real team player.

This is a full-time position based in our central London offices. Final job title and salary are dependent on experience.

Please send an up-to-date CV and covering letter, including your current salary, to our HR Manager, Neville Vania - n.vania@insighteditions.com

Closing date: 9th December 2019
