Full Time – 35 hours per week
Salary £22,000 to £29,000 depending on experience
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Editor to join the team working on the award winning Art and Architecture list at Yale University Press London. Working across a wide range of high quality, well-designed, fully integrated illustrated books for YUP and its publishing partners.
The role
To manage and deliver a range of publications on the Art and Architecture list, fulfilling Yale University Press London’s strategy of delivering high quality illustrated academic, art and architecture publications to schedule and budget.
You will be proofreading, editing, scheduling, preparing files and liaising with all key stakeholders. You will have experience in managing freelance editorial staff and the creative process directly with designers.
Communication is key, working closely with the Editorial Director and Head of PDE, authors, internal departments, external institutions and publishing partners.
You will work on a wide range of titles including art monographs, art history titles, exhibition catalogues, fashion and graphic design titles.
Person Specification – Key knowledge & skills
- Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge & Acrobat).
- Highly organised, proactive and efficient with strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively, using initiative and working to deadlines.
- Good team player with a willingness to work collaboratively across the department and the organisation
- Experience of working with external publishing partners is desirable
- Understanding of the commercial environment and marketplace for art and architecture books.
- Strong visual sense and design awareness

The Location:
The role will be based in our offices on Bedford Square in Bloomsbury WC1, with convenient access to the Northern and Central lines as well as many bus routes.
