Editorial Manager: Illustrated Books

One of the world’s leading independent book publishers is looking for a talented Editorial Manager to lead its History and Reference list.
 

This is a key position and the successful candidate will have a proven track record in originating their own ideas and commissioning outstanding illustrated books, with at least  5 year’s commissioning experience. Working within the adult editorial team, the candidate must be a team player, have strong communication skills with the ability to develop good relationships with authors, licensors and colleagues. Thrive on multitasking, have a passion for detail, be extremely well organised and enjoy managing and developing projects. They should have a strong network of freelance contacts for all stages of the editorial process, strong InDesign, Word and Excel skills and thrive on being part of a fast-moving creative business. They must be able to manage the creative process of all colour-illustrated titles and reprint programmes from scheduling, project management from manuscript to plotter stage, with a view to maintaining the highest standards in terms of text and design, and working within a budget.   
 

Qualities required are good commercial instincts, an ability to identify gaps in the market, a flair for spotting popular trends.   Strong budgeting and negotiation skills are a must and experience of team management highly desirable.
