Commissioning Editor – Professional Law

Edward Elgar Publishing is seeking an experienced commissioning editor to further develop their programme of books and resources for the professional legal market. The successful applicant will have several years’ experience of commissioning print titles and developing new practice-facing products for professional lawyers. Working closely with the Law Publisher the role will involve commissioning pro-actively, identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key influencers, and playing a strategic role in the planning and direction of the Elgar Law publishing programme.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

 

  • Demonstrable understanding of the professional legal market
  • Experience of commissioning products and resources to meet the needs of that market
  • Strong editorial and communication skills
  • Experience of working on, and managing, complex projects in print and digital formats to strict deadlines and within budget
  • Experience of managing and working alongside authors
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team as well as independently
  • Strong commercial awareness

 

Salary commensurate with experience.
