Senior Commissioning Editor, Children’s Trade Books

Our client, an award-winning independent publisher seeks a Children’s Senior Commissioning Editor. This is a brand new role and an exciting opportunity to shape and grow a fiction and picture books list.

This relatively small list is growing fast, the publisher produces inspiring, original stories that expand the choices available to young readers.

Candidates will show they can run successful and profitable commissioning projects and have strong communication and negotiation skills. You will need good understanding and experience in the YA/children’s fiction book market and be able to bring out the best in your authors.

We would welcome enquiries from children’s editors with recent commissioning experience to the more experienced commissioning editors. You will need to have good contacts with agents and authors. 

The salary range is very attractive and will depend on the experience you bring. The offices are in Central London very close to all the main public transport hubs.
