Acquisitions Editor

A leading educational and academic publishing company is looking for a new Acquisitions Editor to create new digital archive products and programmes. This role will be based in their Hampshire office and will require some international travel.

 

Key duties:

  • Create new primary source-based product that will be sold in the academic library sector worldwide
  • Identify key primary source collections that are in demand from customers
  • Work with content partners to acquire the rights for target content sets and collections
  • Appoint, manage and consult academic advisory boards for each product and programme as required
  • Commission supporting materials (e.g. essays, timelines) from subject experts  
  • Perform competitive analysis to ensure new product concepts are unique

Experience / skills required:

  • Prior academic and/or educational publishing experience is essential for this role
  • You will ideally have experience acquiring primary source content
  • A proven ability to identify content sources and negotiate/prepare contracts is required
  • A background in History or a related discipline is highly desired
  • Experience in the digitization of primary source materials is desired
