Acquisitions Editor (STM Books)

This is an excellent opportunity for an Acquisitions Editor to join a leading and respected academic publisher in central London to commission and develop a list of books across a variety of scientific areas and disciplines.

 

Key duties:

  • Responsible for acquiring and developing new titles in assigned subject areas
  • Monitor the development of manuscripts to ensure market requirements and publishing standards are met
  • Develop relationships with academics and subject experts
  • Identify current and future market trends and maintain a knowledge of competitor products
  • Manage relationships with authors and negotiate contracts
  • Prepare and present acquisitions proposals to the publishing committee

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience in a development editorial role in STM books publishing
  • Experience of identifying and recruiting potential authors
  • First class communication skills, written and verbal
  • A proactive approach and a passion for science
