Acquisitions Editor, STM, Oxford/Cambridge

Our client, a leading provider of science and health information, is looking to add a new Acquisitions Editor to their Books department in either their Oxford or Cambridge office. Reporting to the Editorial Director, the successful applicant will research, acquire, develop and publish new titles with a focus on commercial awareness. They will manage titles, identifying changes to be made and ensuring they have an in-depth understanding of the market trends.

In the role, the Acquisitions Editor will work towards securing signing targets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget. They will be strategic and confident with their decision-making, keeping all stakeholders informed of progress and working closely with colleagues to motivate and influence. The ideal applicant will have a strong customer focus and research skills with demonstrable experience in commissioning and managing multiple authors.

They will come from an STM publishing background and experience with either books or journals is desirable. They will be highly organised with excellent communication skills. Any knowledge of or experience in earth or environmental science publications would be advantageous though not essential. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially-savvy publishing professional looking to take their next step in a commissioning/author management role within STM publishing.
