LITERARY AGENT ASSISTANT ROLE

Aitken Alexander Associates is a well-established, leading literary agency negotiating deals and representing writers/managing careers throughout the UK, America and internationally. Our client list includes Bernardine Evaristo, Mark Haddon, Pat Barker, Sebastian Faulks, Max Porter, Daisy Johnson, Evie Wyld, The Secret Barrister, Emma Dabiri, Megan Hunter, James Suzman, Diana Evans and Oyinkan Braithwaite. 

The job is to provide support to Chris Wellbelove, Head of the Book Department. The successful candidate will be a passionate reader of nonfiction and fiction with good administrative skills, who wants to develop a career in publishing. They should be interested in serious and popular nonfiction as well as fiction, excited to work with authors from conception of a book project, and motivated by groundbreaking ideas and excellent writing. We welcome applications from those without any previous publishing experience.

Aitken Alexander is a small company with a collegial environment, and the right candidate should see this as an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and how to be an agent. We are based in King’s Cross and currently encouraging hybrid working – you would be expected to work a minimum of two days a week in the office. Minimum salary of £25k.
