Brand Manager, The Box of Stories

The Ampersand Book Co is looking for an ambitious, entrepreneurial children’s book expert, to head up our latest venture - a market-leading book subscription for children.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to move out of a traditional publishing structure, launch an exciting new startup, and grow a team. Who are we looking for? You’re passionate about children’s books, with in-depth knowledge of the key titles, writers, and market trends. You understand the challenges and opportunities of early literacy, and know of all the key contacts within children’s publishing.

As well as curating the books we’ll be sending out, you’ll also be in charge of creating a reading experience for each box. Games, craft activities, writing and drawing projects and more, you’re someone with imagination, and lots of ideas for how to engage children and parents with reading. Ensuring that every month’s box is packed with exciting surprises to discover and amazing games to play is key.

You’re a real self starter, able to conceive and execute media and brand partnerships, and create a cohesive social media strategy. You’ll need strong editorial, design and visual skills, and have real creative flair, with a vision to develop and grow The Box of Stories brand.

You’ll also have the ability to keep track of key dates and deadlines, ensuring that each box is on time and within budget. Our offices are currently in Brighton, but we don’t mind where you are - obviously an ability to work independently and be proactive and resourceful is key.

This is not your average children’s publishing role, but we’re not the typical publishing company either! The Box of Stories is the latest venture from The Ampersand Book Co, which currently operates three subscription services: Reposed, Books + Beer and My Book Moment.

Please apply via email with a CV, cover letter and your plans for The Box of Stories launch boxes hello@ampersandbookco.com Salary is flexible and dependent on experience - we're also open to someone working part time or job-sharing. We welcome applications from anyone who doesn't fit the usual publishing stereotypes.
