The Education Division publishes children’s books and schoolbooks from pre-school to secondary level in a variety of print & digital formats and across a wide spectrum of subject areas. Our flagship reading programme, Oxford Reading Tree, has taught millions of children to read and is used in 130 countries.

The International Sales team are responsible for the export of schoolbooks to English medium schools overseas as well as publishing specific resources for different International curriculum. It is a successful and rapidly growing team working in a fast-paced and varied environment.

 

About the Role

We are looking for an innovative, self-motivated individual to join our successful and driven International sales team in the Educational & Children’s Division. The team works alongside UK Editorial, Sales and Marketing, and sells education products through a network of OUP branches, agents and distributors as well as directly to overseas schools.

Based in Oxford, with considerable travel throughout Europe and the Americas during key promotional months, you will be responsible for managing enthusiastic regional sales teams to ensure the achievement of the regional sales objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • devising and implementing the regional sales & marketing strategy
  • managing budgets as well as monitoring sales performance and setting forecasts
  • motivating and developing the sales team to enable them to reach their full potential
  • keeping up-to-date with developments, trends and competitor activity in your territory to ensure that our products meet market needs and all sales opportunities are maximised
  • managing important internal and external relationships with key regional stakeholders, including OUP branches and offices, school groups, suppliers and educational organisations

 

About You

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • qualifications to degree level or equivalent
  • experience in sales and marketing with a large educational or general publisher
  • developed sales skills and techniques
  • experience of managing individuals
  • knowledge of UK and international educational systems and retail book trade
  • excellent communication and presentation skills
  • full driving licence

Desirable:

  • teaching experience
  • knowledge of foreign languages
  • experience of living/ working abroad
