Essential
● Significant experience of working in a publishing environment at a senior level
● Experience of working diplomatically and productively with authors, designers, artists,
curators, etc
● Excellent people and project management and administration skills
● Experience of commissioning freelancers, c onducting tendering processes and selling
publishing rights
● Excellent editorial, proof reading, print production and writing skills
● A thorough understanding of copyright
● Good spoken communication skills
● Extensive experience of managing large and fast moving budgets
● Strong commercial acumen
● Ability to organise and plan a complex workload, work under pressure and handle multiple
priorities
● Managing, motivating and leading a team
● A good knowledge of 20 th and 21 st century and contemporary art and the national and
international art scene
● Excellent knowledge of authors in the field of critical writing on the visual arts
● A keen eye for detail in their own work and that of others
● IT literate (a knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop would be an advantage)
● Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the role that diversity and inclusion
play in the activities of the Southbank Centre as a whole and in the work of this particular
job.

The Hayward Gallery manages Hayward Touring exhibitions; and the Arts Council Collection on behalf of Arts Council England.

This is a unique opportunity to lead the small team responsible for editing and producing all exhibition publications for the Hayward Gallery, Hayward Touring and the Arts Council Collection. You will work with the curatorial team to agree publication concepts, ensure high standards and balance artistic and commercial considerations.

Contract term: Fixed term to April 2017
