Arts and Literature Project Manager - 9 Months FTC

We have a wonderful opportunity for a switched on project manager with experience of the arts and culture or literature sector to work for an inspirational not for profit literacy charity.  The role of Arts and Literature Project Manager will manage a range of existing literature projects on time and to budget; including high-profile literary prizes, campaigns and other reading and writing activities.  This role will be responsible for designing and developing new projects in line with the organisation’s strategic aims.

The role requires close liaison with a range of stakeholders including publishers, booksellers, agents, authors, funding bodies, celebrities, corporate partners and other internal teams, therefore strong relationships management skills are key to success in this busy and lively team.  Acting as the central contact for several projects, project management, events managements and leadership skills are also crucial to developing the existing Arts portfolio, ensuring other teams and suppliers meet their goals to achieve the outcomes and outputs required.

This role will report to the Head of Arts with the Communications team and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Managing all phases of projects including planning and scheduling, ensuring that all aspects of the projects are delivered in line with agreed standards, meeting outputs and targets; delivering outcomes and impact.
  • Engage with stakeholders, partners, sector experts and beneficiaries to assess and develop new ideas form products/programmes and taking these from concept to viable products and services.
  • Close management of day-to-day relationships with clients and funders including reporting on delivery, outcomes and finance.
  • Keep up to date with trends and changes in the arts, literature and culture sector, and policy relating to reading, writing and education.

You will be an active member of the team, participating in meetings and supporting colleagues.

The successful person will have demonstrable experience and knowledge of the arts and culture sector and developments within the literature arena and be familiar with government initiatives and legislation relating to reading and writing.  You may come from an educational or children's publishing background, and have a track record of successful project delivery on time and within budget, plus proven project management skills, including planning, implementation and ideally risk management. Experience in building and managing budgets is desirable and a track record of effective relationship management with funders, clients and partners is necessary for this role.  You will have solid IT, negotiation and interpersonal skills; possess strong attention to detail and be solution-focused.
