An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Editor to a brand-new imprint launching in Spring 2017, part of the expansion of this highly successful division of Macmillan Publishers. The role is permanent.

 

The new non-fiction imprint will focus on diet, popular psychology, health, parenting, inspirational memoir, healthy cookery, relationships and business. The three-strong team (two editorial roles and one communications role) will have the extraordinary opportunity to launch a from-the-ground imprint in one of the most exciting areas of non-fiction publishing. The scope for the contribution for the Assistant Editor is wide: writing cover copy and sales materials, generating ideas, editing, and supporting the Publisher.

 

We are looking for someone who is highly enthusiastic about this area of non-fiction who also has at least 12 months experience in publishing.

 

The successful applicant will:

 

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Have previous editorial experience
  • Have a strong interest in, commercial non-fiction, especially health, self-help and wellness
  • Have excellent editorial and proofreading skills
  • Be  highly motivated
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have an impeccable eye for detail and an excellent understanding of the English language,
  • Be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint).

 

This role is based in our King’s Cross, London office.
