Palgrave Higher Education, part of Springer Nature, is a leading global academic publisher of textbooks and educational resources, both print and online. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and vibrant higher education publishing team. We are seeking a talented and driven Associate Commissioning Editor to work alongside the Publisher to drive growth on our leading-edge Theatre & Performance Studies list while assisting on the highly prestigious BFI (British Film Institute) Publishing imprint – working on books and resources for students, specialists and general readers. 

 

The ideal applicant for this role will: 

  • have exceptional organisational skills with an ability to balance priorities;
  • have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • have a proven track record of working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, and of building strong relationships with external   contacts;
  • be market-focused, with a passion for identifying emerging trends in higher education and an enthusiasm to explore new publishing opportunities;
  • have a desire to develop commercially successful Arts and Humanities products that stand-out in a competitive marketplace;
  • possess strong negotiation skills and an ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders in order deliver on agreed publishing plans;
  • be goal-orientated, with a can-do attitude and the ability to thrive in a challenging environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to take the first step in their commissioning career. The position will be based in our London offices. Some university campus travel will be required in the UK and possibly overseas.
