Senior Editor/Editorial Director – Raven Books Maternity Cover

Bloomsbury have an exciting opportunity for someone to join them as Senior Editor/Editorial Director for a fixed term maternity leave contract on the Raven Books imprint, for an initial period of 8 months, starting at the end of February 2021. Twice shortlisted for Publisher of the Year at the CWA awards, Raven Books publishes some of the best and the brightest voices within the crime, thriller, gothic and mystery genre, and is the home of award winning authors including Laura Purcell, Holly Watt and Sunday Times bestseller, Stuart Turton.

Reporting directly to the Bloomsbury Adult Trade Editor-in-Chief, the successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic editor, with a strong track record in commissioning and publishing across the genre, in both fiction and non-fiction.

The perfect candidate will be commercially aware, have excellent organisational and communication skills, a real passion for the Raven Books list, a love of editing, strong relationships with agents and scouts, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, both in the UK and globally. The role will involve leading the imprint in-house; publishing a number of Raven Books’ most high profile titles in all formats; line management responsibilities for one member of the Raven Books team, and offers the opportunity tocommission their own titles for the imprint as well as supporting the acquisition and publication of other Raven Books titles.

The role is for a full time Maternity Cover, initially for 8 months based at our London office, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP, however as all Bloomsbury employees are currently working from home, this role will also be based from home until our offices reopen.
