UK Sales Insights Analyst - Retail

The Data and Retailer insights Manager will be responsible for investigating and analysing sales data and processes for the UK Sales team and increasing efficiencies through the use of Systems/IT resources. You will be responsible for setting up and/or streamlining the internal systems and processes to create the most accurate sales reporting and analytics across key systems in the business in order to support the sales team in fully understanding the behaviours of their accounts.

The Data and Retailer insights Manager will also ensure proper processes and documentation surrounding sales reporting and will work closely with sales staff to provide visibility and commentary on sales reporting as well as provide a vital link with the Finance and IT departments. The role is crucial to sales and publishing strategies providing clear analytics and commentary on the numbers.

The UK Sales team that you will be supporting sell titles from across the Adult Consumer, Children’s, Special Interest and Head of Zeus divisions.

This role will report to the UK Adult Sales Director. 

Knowledge, skills and experience 

  • Cognos and Bookscan Super-User
  • Bookscan account manager and owner of the Nielsen bookscan email i.e. responsible for companywide dissemination of Bookscan Charts
  • Responsible for quarterly market reports back to the sales team tracking shifts in general trends across categories and ASP
  • Competitor analysis- both in terms of imprints (targeting areas that Blooms is moving into) and in retail behaviour e.g. interrogating supermarket chart change selections and pricing/offers and how these affect market performance
  • Creator of live subs and stock grid to support account managers and Ops to forecast effectively, and to stay ahead of fast moving titles.
  • Work with the champs teams to interrogate ROI across retailers vis associated retail spend/retros/promo discounts
  • Main point of contact with the Cognos team to ensure best possible reporting for the sales dept. (especially as we move across to dashboards.)
  • Managing systems that directly affect the UK Sales Department
  • Initiate Bookscan and Cognos acquisition analysis for Children’s and Adult Trade editorial meetings. 
  • Bookscan market cubes reporting 
  • Review of business needs for Bookscan on a quarterly basis 
  • Ensure TCM Title Trackers are set up and run; review process of doing these and improve systems and spreadsheets as required with the help of finance. 
  • Budgeting - work with Finance to ensure accurate Monthly budget template reporting for sales directors, improve and streamline process to make it efficient and effective. 
  • Retail/customer analytics – responsible for reporting by UK customer, reviewing sales quarterly with the sales team. Set up parameters and metrics for reporting and provide commentary on figures, including returns rate, average discounts, movement in RRPs etc. Propose change in sales strategy based on analysis 
  • Representative for the UK Sales Department on key projects – for example migration to Hachette Distribution

Additional Information

This permanent role is full-time position although part-time may be considered for the right applicant

Salary Pay Range: £37,000 - £45,000

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).  Allocated office days for this role are Mondays and Tuesdays.
