Books Editor

A great opportunity for a Books Editor on an initial 12 month contract has come up in a charitable body who publish independent, well-researched publications on topics relevant to the charity and voluntary sector. The main purpose of the role is to collaborate with the Editorial Manager and project edit new books, e-books and reprints.

Key responsibilities include: editorial project management - editing and proofreading and liaising with /managing with freelancers; production control and managing schedules; progress chasing and ensuring books are produced to budget. The successful candidate will have experience working in an editorial role within a publishing environment; experience of managing freelancers and budgets and good all-round knowledge of book editorial processes and book production. You will be systematic and well-organised, with an eye for quality and detail and you will be financially literate with a good level of IT skills, ideally including Excel and Outlook.
