Bookshop Supervisor

 

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is the professional membership body for family doctors in the UK and internationally. We are one of the foremost primary care organisations in the UK, committed to improving patient care, clinical standards and GP training.

 

The overarching aim of the RCGP Enterprises (RCGPE), who is the employer of this role, is to generate income streams that will support the charitable purpose of the RCGP.

 

The Bookshop Supervisor role is pivotal in delivering an excellent service to members, customers and stakeholders by managing the day to day activities of the well regarded RCGP Shop.  In the role you will act as the focal point for all shop related improvement projects and overall for the Shop’s continued development and prosperity.

 

Key tasks and responsibilities:

-  increasing the market for the RCGP Bookshop by appealing to new markets, i.e. review book   offerings, identify and contact key organisations and membership bodies to attract new audiences

leading on development of the RCGP Medical Bookshop online, identifying improvements that will improve the customer experience and generate increased revenue

maintaining stock levels and making key decisions about stock control                                          

promoting the bookshop nationally and internationally by attending Health Care related events to improve the turn-over and income generation

preparing management reports, collating trends to facilitate marketing, and day to day budget management in order to deliver targets within budget

the role also troubleshoots and documents all bookshop issues to mutually agreed resolutions

 

Applicants will have:

previous relevant online / retail related experience

sound experience of using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

a good knowledge of the sales database operation and of credit and stock control processes

a good knowledge of the retail book market

an understanding of the Data Protection Act

 

You will also be expected to attend the Annual Conference along with being available for occasional weekend and evening events.
