Corelist Manager (Canongate and Severn House)

This newly created role within our Marketing Department offers an experienced and pro-active individual the opportunity to work closely with both Editorial and Sales colleagues from Canongate and Severn House, on a fast-growing and crucial area of the business.

This is a role for a passionate reader, who cares about reaching new audiences with established titles and driving corelist growth. At Canongate we use the term ‘corelist’ instead of ‘backlist’ because we feel strongly that this key part of our list, our DNA, should never be in the back of our minds or viewed in this way, as it is critical to the health of our business.

The role has considerable development opportunities and would be suitable for someone who is capable of collaborating across departments and understands publishing as a whole ecosystem. Someone for whom details matter, both in terms of metadata and in a desire to measure outcomes.

Key duties will include:

  • Running campaigns around reissues, film tie-ins and seasonal moments
  • Working with the Canons list and finding new ways and opportunities to promote it
  • Running sales-driving AMS campaigns
  • Maintaining excellent copy and A+ content, alongside relevant metadata and keywords
  • Securing and maintaining partnerships with relevant organisations and retailers
  • Working closely with Sales to deliver materials and drive ebook pricing strategy. Finding opportunities to promote audio and ebook editions
  • Working closely with Editorial to decide on publishing schedules, rejacketing priorities and ensuring reprints are fresh and relevant
  • Ensuring we meet or exceed our financial targets

This full-time position can be based in either our Edinburgh or London offices, reporting into a Marketing Director. Hybrid working is available.

Salary: £32,000+ pa, depending on location and experience plus benefits https://canongate.co.uk/about/employee-benefits/

To apply, please send your CV (including contact details for two references) and a covering letter to Alice Shortland detailing your vision for this role. Email to recruitment@canongate.co.uk. The deadline for applications is 20th May 2024
