Commercial Manager - Digital Products

A leading Scholarly publisher requires a Commercial Manager to deliver commercial success across a number of digital projects.

Summary:

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial ambitions, be entrepreneurially minded and an insightful commercial leader of digital projects, focused on owning commercial success and achieving targets for the projects that they manage. Such responsibility will encompass full business, product performance and management of sales/marketing interests in the marketplace.

The role will require a familiarity with the academic research market, as well as an eagerness to meet challenges, travel extensively, work with multiple stakeholders, and cope well with ambiguity.

The wide remit encompasses: owning product strategy, development and management, as well as defining in-market sales outcomes, budgeting, planning, and liaising widely to influence and organise the business to meet the research market targets. Technology, sales, marketing and product development acumen are required to ensure analysis of new opportunities is robust and aligned with company goals.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of the academic research market
  • A background in digital and/or professional marketing, e-commerce or digital project management would be advantageous
  • Proven experience of managing internal, external and third-party supplier relationships
  • Understanding of current mobile and web trends and technologies
  • Strong programme management skills capable of managing multiple projects, budgets and schedules, determining realistic timelines and milestones and the communication thereof
  • Able to engage with multiple teams across a business, taking decisions in a sensitive, collaborative and diplomatic manner
  • Organised with project management, prioritisation and multitasking skills
  • Able to combine technical understanding with good interpersonal skills
  • Detail-orientated, capable of delivering under pressure and meeting relevant deadlines
  • Highly adaptable, adept at tailoring one’s approach according to the audience and situation
  • Strong leadership and team building skillset
  • Demonstrable commercial delivery expertise, track record of planning, organizing and delivering new digital and community based online projects.

This role can be home based with 1 or 2 days a week in the office.
