Commissioning Editor – 12 month contract

A large Brighton publisher of illustrated non-fiction, lifestyle and popular culture titles is looking to appoint a Commissioning Editor on a 12 month maternity cover contract to join their editorial team producing high quality non-fiction illustrated titles.

This is a key role within the editorial team, you will commission your own projects and contribute to the publishing strategy, delivering product on time and to budget to ensure profitable growth. Key responsibilities will include; identifying market opportunities for new products, developing plans for the front and back list, identifying, commissioning and liaising with authors, budgeting & scheduling.

You will be a creative and commercially aware individual with proven experience in commissioning and managing a list. You will ideally come from an illustrated non-fiction background in trade publishing. You already possess excellent communication and outstanding editorial skills and can work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
