Commissioning Editor

A leading professional publisher for the engineering and technology sector is looking for a Business Development Executive. The successful candidate will have experience in commissioning content within a technical, scientific or business environment. The role is based in Hertfordshire and is a straightforward commute from London or Cambridge.

 

Key duties:

  • Research the market, identify new topic areas and assess commercial opportunities for products
  • Responsible for building and developing commercially viable publishing proposals for standards
  • Manage publishing projects from approval to publication
  • Identify and secure external sponsorship
  • Work in collaboration with relevant teams and internal stakeholders 
  • Propose developments and internal improvements and represent the company externally

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Extensive experience in commissioning in science, engineering, technology or professional publishing
  • Experience in market research an analysis and building business proposals
  • Able to translate business strategies into product development
  • Previous P&L management responsibility
  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders
  • Confident, results-oriented, motivated, a team player
  • Organised, able to work to deadlines
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
