Commissioning Editor (Children's)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join a leading publisher based in central London. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working across a diverse list of Children's educational fiction and trade non-fiction.
Key duties:
- Proactively research, commission and develop a list of title ideas across a variety of subject areas
- Prepare and present proposals for new titles
- Research market trends and maintain a solid awareness in order to identify publishing opportunities
- Oversee all editorial and publication processes for the list
- Liaise closely with colleagues to ensure books are published on time and to budget
Experience / skills required:
- Previous experience of working on educational fiction is essential, ideally on hi-lo titles
- A solid knowledge of the market and the ability to identify new trends
- Excellent knowledge of editorial and commissioning processes
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience in teaching or an educational environment would be advantageous
