Commissioning Editor – HSS Journals

An academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit a Commissioning Editor to join their HSS Journals team.

This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the Humanities and Social Science programme whilst contributing to the company's overall editorial plan for future growth.

As Commissioning Editor your key responsibilities will include:

• Commission journals within agreed fields.
• Lead bids and write proposal documents, and present in bid situations.
• Manage and develop journal backlist and society journals in accordance with the editorial plan.
• Support the Publisher in development of the wider HSS journal list.
• Represent the company at editorial board meetings, key conferences and exhibitions.
• Maintain and improve the editorial and academic or professional quality of product lists allocated.
• Maximise profitability within the areas of the list assigned.
• Ensure a high level of service is offered to societies, editors and authors.

To be considered for this role you will need proven experience in journals publishing, commissioning and ideally managing a list of proprietary and society owned titles. You should hold strong relationship building and communications skills along with a commercial awareness.
