Commissioning editor (illustrated)

An independent publisher of illustrated books based in London is looking for a Commissioning Editor. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in illustrated books to help develop a growing list of titles.

Key duties:

• Responsible for commissioning a commercially focused and profitable list of titles
• Oversee international markets and ensure that titles perform at a profitable level
• Ensure that the vision for titles is retained through the publishing process and collaborate closely with the designers
• Negotiate contracts with authors and agents
• Develop relations with international markets

Experience / skills required:

• Proven experience in a commissioning role within trade publishing
• Experience working with illustrated content is a must
• Good international market knowledge and commercial awareness
• Sound knowledge of new trends
• A self-starter with a proactive and positive attitude
• Proven InDesign skills
