Commissioning Editor (Law)

This is an exciting new opening for an experienced Commissioning Editor to join a prestigious independent publisher based in Oxford to develop their list of law books for the academic, student and professional markets.

 

Key duties:

  • Research, commission and develop new print and digital products
  • Work closely with authors and colleagues to ensure schedules are maintained
  • Take responsibility for monitoring and reviewing sales figures and the lists’ performance
  • Collaborate with colleagues in marketing, sales, production and digital teams
  • Attend conferences, book launches and university visits to represent the company

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Proven commissioning experience in an academic books publishing environment
  • A strong knowledge of the legal market and good contacts within the area
  • A proactive and commercial approach to list management and commissioning
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong problem solving, time management and analytical abilities
  • An enthusiasm for digital publishing
