Commissioning Editor (Secondary ELT)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join the ELT department of a leading educational publisher based in Central London.  Working closely with international markets, you will commission appropriate content and manage successful print and online publishing projects.

 

Key duties:

  • Conduct market research to ensure products meet strategic aims and are competitive
  • Identify and commission authors to ensure quality, suitability and timely delivery
  • Cooperate with relevant stakeholders to schedule market research
  • Work closely with the content development team to ensure all content meets project specifications
  • Maintain and expand network of industry contacts to support research and product development

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid commissioning experience in an editorial role in educational publishing, ideally within ELT
  • Formal ELT qualification and a knowledge of ELT markets and segments
  • Good knowledge of print and online publishing processes
  • Good financial knowledge and ability to manage a P&L
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proactive, team-player with project leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of a second language is desirable
