Commissioning Editor, Secondary Schools Publishing, Oxfordshire

This is a really exciting opportunity to work on a growing list for a leading Educational Publisher. Our client is looking for an entrepreneurial Commissioning Editor to join their publishing team in Oxfordshire, further developing and building a range of Secondary revision and supplemental resources series, including a list of successful student magazines.

The role offers exceptional opportunities for the right candidate: motivated, positive, commercial, ready to challenge and be challenged. The Commissioning Editor will be responsible for some very successful publishing and will manage the commissioning and development of assigned titles/series as well as developing strong business cases for the acquisition of new titles/series whilst working collaboratively with the organisation as a whole. With experience in developing new and existing educational resources the Commissioning Editor will be confident in actively going out to the market to find new opportunities, build partnerships and drive our clients market share in the Secondary market with a particular focus on Economics, Politics, Science and Geography.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in commissioning or be a market focused Development Editor looking for their first commissioning challenges, ideally within the Secondary schools market. An ideal candidate would be for someone who can understand the needs of teachers and learners and convert that understanding into successful, commercial learning materials across a range of media and services. You will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues – particularly sales and marketing – as you develop resources to drive this business forward.

This autonomous role provides the perfect opportunity to manage the commissioning and development for a key list within a highly successful Educational Publisher at a time of exciting curriculum change.
