Commissioning Editor (STM journals)
We have an exciting opening for a junior Commissioning Editor to work on the clinical journal series of a leading international publisher based in central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a science graduate with some editorial experience within STM publishing.
Key duties:
- Commission high quality content to targets, working with editorial board to ensure content is relevant
- Manage own list of journals, ensuring timely submissions and maintaining high quality standards
- Build and develop solid relationships with editorial board and key opinion leaders
- Liaise with suppliers to peer-review all content and process rapid track papers and language editing
- Ensure all company guidelines and policies are followed
- Work with sales and marketing departments to advise on potential reprints and promote the list
- Build awareness of the industry and keep up-to-date with latest market trends
Experience / skills required:
- Educated to degree level in a life science field or equivalent
- Some experience in an editorial role within STM publishing would be a bonus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Proactive and problem-solving attitude with a flexible approach and excellent customer service skills
- A good team-player with a commercial acumen
