Commissioning Editor
A highly successful, global academic publisher has a super new opening for an ambitious journals professional as a Commissioning Editor. This role can be worked on a fully remote basis if desired, but you will need to be UK based.
As a member of their Medicine & Healthcare team you will commission high-quality content for a set of defined journals and is ideal for someone who has a genuine interest in biomedical or biological science and who enjoys researching relevant scientific literature and commissioning ideas for new articles.
This is a highly varied and interesting role where some of your responsibilities include:
- Commissioning high-quality, relevant content for a range of titles across the journal portfolio, delivering content within specified time frames.
- Building strong networks with authors, editorial boards and key opinion leaders
- Developing a thorough knowledge of Editorial Policies.
- Continually build your knowledge across subject areas, including key topics of interest and developments in the field
- Maintaining oversight of peer review and ensure that it is carried out to specific quality standards
- Experience required:
- A biomedical background and/or some experience in medical publishing
- An active interest in open access and open science
- Strong organisational skills, efficiency and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize effectively and to work to (often competing) deadlines
- A positive and proactive approach to problem solving
- Able to work cooperatively with local and global colleagues at all levels
- A high level of computer literacy (including MS Office, Outlook and internet browsers)
Candidates will have demonstrable communication and influencing skills in written and spoken English.
