Communications Advisor, Global Development, Oxfordshire

A highly prestigious not-for-profit, scientific organisation focussing on global development based in Oxfordshire is now seeking a Strategic Communications Advisor to join their busy PR and Communications team.

This role will be crucial for the organisation in developing and delivering an effective communications strategy around an open data initiative. Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and deliver a range of integrated marketing and communications activities including direct mail, e-marketing, online, events and social media
• Write press releases and being the key point of contact for the media
• Develop a media database and a network of journalist and blogger contacts
• Build relationships and communications between open data and agriculture communities
• Events management for international events and exhibitions around open data, agriculture and nutrition
• Develop an integrated SEO strategy for the website

The successful candidate will have significant experience in marketing communications for events, conferences and exhibitions and will be educated to degree level or equivalent ideally in marketing, an applied life sciences or computing field. With proven expertise in delivering successful marketing communications campaigns the Strategic Communications Advisor will be an excellent communicator and be detail-orientated, deadline driven and extremely organised. In addition, the post holder will have a creative flair with an interest in SEO and a strong track record in executing innovative and successful campaigns. Any knowledge or interest in open data or big data and agricultural or nutritional issues would be an advantage in applying for this role.
