Looking for the next step in your editorial career? This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced editorial assistant or assistant editor with strong copyediting and proofreading skills to join an evolving department in a highly prestigious professional publishing house. With modern offices in London, our client is seeking a Content Editor to join their future-focused publishing team on a 12 month maternity cover contract. Our client is the global voice of the legal profession, publishing a range of journals, newsletters, books and e-products.

 

Taking personal responsibility for a suite of products, the successful candidate will manage the commissioning and production processes for all content related to their designated products, ensuring content is exploited as widely as possible in both off and online formats. Key responsibilities will include: managing and building effective relationships with editors and editorial boards to chase and generate content, ensuring content is delivered according to schedule including the briefing and management of freelancers, copyediting, collating amendments, assisting with page layout, proofreading and ensuring high quality standards are maintained as well as project managing co-published titles and ensuring that the overall strategic aims of the organisation are reflected in all publishing activity.

 

The successful candidate will have proven editorial experience ideally within a legal, professional or business publishing environment although candidates from other areas with the relevant skills would also be considered. For someone with a good knowledge of the publishing process and a desire to step up and become a fully-fledged editor, this is a chance to manage and edit your own projects and really make your mark on the role.
