Content Researcher
A well-known academic publisher is looking for a Content Researcher to support their digitization programme of libraries’ primary source collections. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with experience in archival, academic or picture research. This is a full time role, based in central London.
Key duties:
- Investigate library’s collections for digital resources that support academic research and teaching Research key details of collections such as size, types of content, state of conservation, copyrights issues, etc.
- Identify potential new product ideas during research and highlight these to Publisher
- Create inventories of selected content, recording key details in a flexible and accessible format
- Resolve queries using online or physical catalogues
- Attend meetings with Publisher at the library and occasionally travel to the Hampshire office
Experience / skills required:
- Experience in archival, academic or picture research is required
- Experience of using online archives of primary sources and working with librarians, archivists or curators
- Fluent written and spoken English is essential, reading fluency in another language is desirable
- Excellent communication skills and a flexible, diplomatic and problem solving attitude
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, work on own initiative and make decisions
- Good IT skills including MS Office (Excel)
- Meticulous attention to detail and thorough approach to work
- Proven passion for history and culture with the ability to assess collections from a commercial perspective
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
