Copy-Editor (STM)
A leading healthcare publisher is looking for a Copy Editor to join their offices in North West London. The successful candidate will have experience copy-editing or sub-editing magazines or journals. This is a great opportunity to join a leading organisation at an exciting time.
Key duties:
- Copy-edit content to high standard, formatting articles and writing headlines, captions and crossheads of non-clinical content
- Prepare content for online publication using CMS, writing SEO headlines and uploading pictures
- Prepare journal content for external XML and typesetting process, ensuring elements are fit for purpose
- Meet tight deadlines and improve efficiency in the editorial production team whilst maintaining accuracy and high quality
- Liaise with authors, editors and colleagues to resolve queries and keep workflow on track
Experience / skills required:
- Solid experience working as copy or sub-editor in healthcare/STM/academic magazine or journal publishing
- Experience of working with CMS and preparing content for online publication and an understanding of the difference between print and SEO headlines
- Excellent command of the English language with a proven ability to spot errors and inconsistencies and adhere to house style
- Good organisation skills and the ability to work quickly to meet tight deadlines
- A proactive and problem solving approach with a flexible attitude
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in English or Journalism
