Corporate Sales Manager

Our client, a global publisher,  is looking for an experienced and creative salesperson to join their Corporate Sales team. This exciting role is responsible for developing and managing the bulk and custom sales of print & e-Books, across a range of subject areas, to UK and international corporate and institutional customers. Managing a team of two reps, and working within the larger Corporate Sales team, this role is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with strong business development and people management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing a plan to personally sell appropriate content in a wide range of subject areas to individuals, companies, professional organizations, government departments, NGOs, and specialist retailers not adequately covered by academic sales channels
  • Working with the Business Development Director, as well as marketing and editorial colleagues, on the overall growth plans for the Corporate Sales team each year
  • Managing a team of two corporate sales executives to ensure that they achieve set revenue targets, as well as monitoring activity levels, sales pipeline, and conversion rates, to ensure that specific targets for these metrics are hit
  • Working closely with the wider Corporate Sales team and with other Corporate Sales Managers on coaching and developing performance of the overall team, so that their revenue managed increases sustainably over time, and that resources are used effectively
  • Developing the team’s effectiveness in pitching to different types of customer, via e-mail, telephone, webinar, and in person, as well as via other media, and helping the team to take advantage of new sales techniques and technologies – to maximize team efficiency
  • Actively developing new business models where this can deliver significant and profitable revenue growth from untapped customer groups
  • Ensuring that the wider team actively develops opportunities in international markets, in close collaboration with staff in local offices.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of:

  • Extensive experience of working in a sales environment, and of working in academic, trade, or business/legal publishing – as well as knowledge of editorial, marketing, and production
  • Experience of business development, and of sales force management.
