Deputy Production Manager - Books

Are you ready for more responsibility and looking for a brand new challenge in book production? A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Oxford area for a motivated and ambitious production professional to work for a highly successful, global publisher. Working across a range of subject titles, this position involves managing the production of new titles from initial copy through to delivery of final product, and providing support to the Manager. 

This is a great role for someone with production experience ready for more responsibility.  Some of the key duties will involve producing production estimates, controlling budgets and quality of work; assessing quality of artwork and sample pages and liaising with authors, project managers, freelancers, printers and designers, as well as managing external suppliers. Further responsibilities will include processing new copy; managing in-house freelancers and assist the Manager in training new members of staff.

You will also deputise for the Manager as necessary, which may involve allocating suppliers as required and allocating work within the team. You may act as a point of contact in the Manager`s absence and attend meetings as necessary. 

This is a great role for an ambitious production professional who is ready for more responsibility and a new and interesting challenge. Therefore, the successful person will have proven production skills, plus strong negotiating, organisational and communication skills. You will have a good understanding of the pre-press and manufacturing processes and have the ability to work effectively under pressure. An aptitude and interest of working with new technology is essential.
