Design and Production Editor (Children’s Trade)

An independent publisher of Children’s books is looking for a Design and Production Editor to join their small and friendly team based in Oxford. This role combines both production and design responsibilities, so familiarity with both is a must.

 

Key duties:

  • Take responsibility for the smooth production process of a range of books and related products
  • Handle the reprint process for backlist titles including updating the branding
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials
  • Work closely with the editorial team, assisting in the development of new products
  • Check design files and proofs for accuracy and quality issues
  • Ad hoc Studio design work

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Previous experience in book production is essential
  • You will be familiar with working on highly illustrated content
  • Proven strong design skills are essential in this role
  • You will be confident using Quark, Adobe CS, and MS Office
  • You must have a keen eye for detail and be a confident proof-reader
  • Strong organisation and communication skills are a must for this role
