Design & Production Controller

An Oxford-based publisher of history, heritage and natural history books is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Design & Production Controller to join their Production team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to progress in their production career within a niche publishing house. Your responsibilities would be to–

• Handle the production of an agreed list of books and other products
• Liaise with internal departments and suppliers
• Generate, monitor, update and enforce realistic schedules to ensure the products are printed and shipped on time
• Monitor the budget thoroughly throughout the publishing process
• Ensure that all electronic files are stored in the appropriate place
• Understand print production issues and specifics so as to be able to comply with best practices, as well as advise staff from other departments as and when required
• Support Head of Production and Production Managers with some department-level administrative tasks.

This role would be well suited to someone with problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude who is exceptionally organized with good time-management skills. As well as this you will have a good eye for detail from demonstrable experience of copy-editing and proof-reading. As well as this you will have proven expertise of InDesign, Photoshop and Microsoft Office and knowledge of XML is desirable.
